Slow Down Sunday
Yin Workshop

Date: 25.05.2025
Location: Lumi Power Yoga or Online

Slow Down Sunday Yin Yoga Workshop

In this yin workshop, the goal is to slow down and switch off from the busy day-to-day routine.

With spring drawing to a close and summer just around the corner, come and join us for two hours of yin yoga focusing on the elements of wood and fire, connecting to the seasons of spring and summer.

As well as doing long-held, supported, floor-based postures, we will incorporate relaxation techniques to help you leave the workshop feeling relaxed and restored.

Join us for this yin workshop on Sunday 25 May, 2-4pm, led by Ruth Lloyd.  You can join the workshop in person at Lumi Power Yoga or in-person via Zoom.

The objectives of this workshop are to:

  • Release tension in the body via a sequence of long-held, floor-based postures (up to 5 minutes).  We will use props (including bricks, blankets and straps) to find the unique level of support required for you to get your best stretch

  • Incorporate breath work, postures and affirmations that are particularly connected to the elements of wood (spring) and fire (summer), exploring their energetic and emotional qualities

  • Reflect on the importance of slowing down to balance out the fast pace of our hectic day-to-day living through the lens of yin yoga philosophy

Props we'll be using include:

  • Yoga blocks

  • Bolster

  • Strap

  • Blankets

If you're joining the workshop from home and don't have these props to hand, you can get creative with whatever materials you have available.  See our blog on building a home practice for ideas about how you can substitute props.

About Ruth:

Ruth fell in love with yoga 30 years ago and has had a regular practice for over 12 years.  It was during Covid that the desire to teach yin yoga and share its therapeutic qualities with others flourished.  Her yin practice, at that time, helped her to slow down, be more grounded and heal in moments of grief and overwhelm, and continues to do so today.

Ruth has been teaching for the Lumi Foundation since 2023 and believes passionately in empowering people from all walks of life to take their health and happiness into their own hands.
